The Outcrop

The Outcrop is the monthly newsletter of the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists. The Outcrop circulates to the 2,000-plus members of the RMAG and about 200 university libraries and industrial associates. A regionally oriented publication, the Outcrop focuses on articles about association events, member activities and topics of interest, awards, and operations. Members are kept up-to-date on the activities of the RMAG Board of Directors with a summary of the monthly Board meeting written by the Secretary. The RMAG President communicates on topics of interest in this monthly newsletter as well. This publication contains notifications and information on our events, as well as other affiliated societies events, and is a great way to stay in touch with upcoming social, networking, and professional education opportunities.

The Mountain Geologist

Published since 1964, The Mountain Geologist is the peer-reviewed, quarterly journal of the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists (RMAG). Issues are published online in January, April, July and October of each year. The Mountain Geologist circulates to the 2000-plus members of the RMAG and about 200 university and government libraries and industrial associates.

The Mountain Geologist is a regionally oriented publication. It focuses on the geology of the Rocky Mountains area of the United States. Topics from outside the region are of interest to the readership when they bear on problems relating to those in Rocky Mountains geology. The range of topics presented in The Mountain Geologist covers almost every sub-discipline in the geosciences: environmental geology and geomorphology, geochemistry, geophysics, hydrogeology, mining and petroleum geology, paleontology, petrology, stratigraphy, structural geology, and more. Authors are from industry, government, and academia.
