Title: Summary of the DAPL/RMAG/DGS 1999 Property – Prospect Fair & TechnoFest
Publication: The Outcrop, January 2000, p. 22-23
The first annual Property ~ Prospect Fair & TechnoFest—a joint endeavor of the Denver Association of Petroleum Landmen (DAPL), the Rocky Mountain Association of
Geologists (RMAG), and the Denver Geophysical Society (DGS)—was by all measures a resounding success.
Demand for booth spaces was high and the event sold out one month in advance—we had to keep a waiting list. A total of 108 booths—57 TechnoFest and 51 Property~Prospect Fair—provided attendees an unprecedented opportunity to see both the latest technological innovations and the best property acquisitions/prospects available in the industry. A total of 946 people attended the event. There were 702 paid attendees and sponsor admissions (sponsors received free admissions dependent on the sponsor level—a good reason to consider sponsoring next year!), and 244 exhibitors/vendors,
volunteers and staff.
One hundred fifty-seven prospects were on display from nearly all interior U.S. basins. At this early date, twelve of these prospects have been sold and a number of in-depth
presentations have been scheduled. Many of those in attendance came from outside the Rocky Mountain area. Texas, California, Calgary, and Oklahoma were all areas that were represented.
A special thank you goes out to all of the sponsors for this year’s event. Without their support, the level of food service, the quality of the event directory, the entertainment, and many other aspects would not have been of such high quality.
Sandi Pellissier, Sandy Simon, and Elmo Brown of the RMAG office staff rose above and beyond the call of duty. Without their Herculean efforts, this event would not have
been successful. If you see these people, make sure to thank them for their hard work.
The success of this year’s event has the entire Property~Prospect Fair & TechnoFest committee busy planning for an even more exciting gathering next year. Let’s hope oil prices remain in the current profitable range!
