Announcing the 2000 RMAG Coalbed Methane Symposium

Title: Announcing the 2000 RMAG Coalbed Methane Symposium

Publication: The Outcrop, January 2000, p. 14

On the heels of it’s highly successful, 1-day, 1999 Coalbed Methane Symposium, RMAG has decided to have a 2000 Coalbed Methane Symposium on June 20th and 21st at the Denver Marriott City Center Hotel. Preliminary plans for this meeting include a day and a half of technical sessions to be followed by a day and a half field trip to the Raton Basin. As you all know, it takes a tremendous amount of volunteer effort to facilitate a successful meeting. Your help would be greatly appreciated by the current members of the Symposium Committee. Please contact Sandi Pellissier at the RMAG office to volunteer (303-573-8621).

This Announcement also serves as a Call for Papers for this meeting. We are looking for a total of 18, 30-minute presentations pertaining to all phases of coalbed methane development and exploitation. The focus this meeting will be on inter-disciplinary (geologic, engineering, land and environmental) relationships surrounding successful and unsuccessful coalbed methane projects. Topics worthy of consideration include but are not limited to:

  • Regional Coal Geology and Tectonics
  • Geochemistry and Coal Petrology
  • Field Studies and Case Histories
  • Exploitation and Engineering Practices
  • Simulation and Reserves
  • Resource Evaluation
  • Legal and Environmental Issues

If you are interested in presenting a paper or for more information regarding the Symposium, contact Bruce Kelso. ◄
