The Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists is pleased to present its President’s Award to Chris Gough for his longtime contributions to the annual GeoLand Ski Day.

Chris has been a member of RMAG since 1982, and has been responsible for over 12 years in spearheading the annual spring ski trip, enjoyed by numerous RMAG members. When he first became involved in this event, it had been abandoned for several years and Chris got it up and going again. Fewer than 50 participants were involved that initial year, and quite possibly the event did not break even financially. As Chair of GeoLand Ski Day for RMAG, Chris determines each year’s ski area, develops a budget, identifies sponsors (and great door prizes!), and maintains an updated mailing list, all in anticipation of providing a fun and challenging day for all of the participants. In recent years, the event has been organized in conjunction with the Denver Association of Petroleum Landmen.

During the time that Chris has been organizing the event on behalf of RMAG, it has gone from a small group of folks to a premier gathering of petroleum industry professionals in the Rockies, including geologists, landmen, bankers and retirees, who enjoy skiing and networking at some of Colorado’s best ski areas. Last year, about 120¬†participated in GeoLand Ski Day, which continues to create revenue that is returned to RMAG.

In recognition of his contributions to making GeoLand Ski Day one of the most anticipated social events each year, the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists is pleased to present its President’s Award to Chris Gough.
