2007 – President’s Award

Award: President’s Award

Recipient: John C. Horne

Publication: The Outcrop, November 2007, p. 22

The Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists is pleased to present its President’s Award to John C. Horne for his dedicated and tireless service to the Association.

For many years, John has served as the “man behind the scenes” at numerous RMAG symposia, serving as the audio-visual coordinator and one-man presentation oversight committee. He has also chaired several RMAG Coalbed Methane Symposia from 1999 to 2005. In conjunction with many of these symposia, John has led RMAG field trips to locales where coal bed methane is the main topic and he has taught at RMAG core workshops dealing with coal stratigraphy.

John Horne was among the first to start RMAG digitization of books, papers and symposia on to CD’s for sales and for posterity. This has now become a standard way in which RMAG stores and publishes written material. John has also been on the Continuing Education Committee for RMAG for the past several years.

The Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists is pleased to honor John C. Horne with its President’s Award for his dedicated service to the Association and his continuing efforts to promote coalbed methane resources.
