The Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists (RMAG) is pleased to bestow the Distinguished Service to RMAG Award to Barbara Luneau in honor of her work as Executive Editor of the Mountain Geologist.
Barbara accomplished much as Executive Editor from July 2005 to July 2009. She and her co-editors guided numerous manuscripts through the publication process. Various aspects of the geology of the Rocky Mountain region were described in 66 articles published in 17 issues.
During her tenure, Barbara worked with several co-editors and guest editors to produce regular and special issues. One such special issue from July 2005, co-edited with Mark Longman and Susan Landon, dealt with Cretaceous Sand Body Geometries in the Piceance Basin. A special issue on Structural Geology of the Front Range of Colorado was produced with guest editors Bob Raynolds and Ned Sterne in January 2006. In July 2006, 16 expanded abstracts from papers presented at the 2006 RMAG-DGS-COGA Gas Conference were compiled in a special issue guest edited by Steve Sonnenberg and Edward P. Dolly. In April 2007, Barbara and Lyn Canter jointly worked on a theme issue regarding the Eocene Green River Formation. Lyn continued her affiliation with Barbara through 2008, editing another seven articles. Ken Kittleson was guest editor for the January 2009 issue that focused on the Boulder-Weld Coal Field.
Despite an extremely hectic work schedule, Barbara ably guided the publications of the Mountain Geologist through a very busy period, with contributions from a wide variety of editors. The job of Executive Editor for the Mountain Geologist is very demanding of time, effective management skills, and geological and editorial expertise. Barbara successfully applied all of these skills to complete the task.
In appreciation for her efforts in guiding the production of the Mountain Geologist, RMAG grants Barbara Luneau the Distinguished Service to RMAG Award.
