The Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists presents its 2001 Special Award to A.
Bruce Johnson in recognition of his service on the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission.
Bruce is a farmer, agricultural real estate broker, and owner of the Greeley firm A. Bruce Johnson & Associates. He earned a BS degree in Agriculture Economics in 1963 and a MBA degree in Business Administration in 1971 both from Colorado State University. Bruce has extensive professional experience in agriculture, banking, real estate, and investing with CSU Extension Service, United Bank of Denver and A. Bruce Johnson & Associates. He has been active in numerous agricultural, banking and community service organizations. Bruce has authored several agricultural economics publications. He currently serves as the Commission representative on the Department of Natural Resources Minerals, Energy and Geology Advisory (MEGA) Board and as a liaison with the Colorado Water Quality Control Commission and Division.
Bruce has served on the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission for over seven years. The Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission is responsible for promoting the development of oil and gas natural resources in the state while protecting the environment, public health, safety and welfare. Bruce has participated in several Commission rulemaking task forces and been instrumental in successfully recommending rules that were adopted. He brings a unique perspective to the Commission through his broad and varied experience, allowing him to arbitrate through contentious ad judicatory and rulemaking hearings. Bruce has greatly benefited the oil and gas industry, surface owners and citizens of Colorado with his thoughtful decisions affecting the development and protection of the state’s natural resources.
