AAPG House of Delegates Meeting

Title: AAPG House of Delegates Meeting

Author: Jeanne Harris, Chair of RMAG’s Delegates

Publication: The Outcrop, May/June 2001, p. 17

The AAPG House of Delegates (HOD) is the legislative arm of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists. Each AAPG Section, International Region, and Division elects members to represent them as Delegates to the House of Delegates. This year we will be meeting in Denver on Sunday, June 3, 2001, at 8:30 am in the Marriott City Center. All AAPG members are welcome to attend and observe the business meeting of the HOD.

At this meeting we will be considering one Constitutional Amendment, seven Bylaws Amendments, and two Resolutions. We have spent the past several years making changes to AAPG to include more international member representation and to encourage more member participation by changes in committee structure and through changes to the Advisory Council. The Advisory Council serves to bring a small group of elected representatives from sections, international regions, Divisions, Executive Committee, and HOD together to advise the Executive Committee of AAPG in regards to nominations for President-Elect, Vice President, etc and for committee chairs and members.

We will continue to address some of the remaining issues and to better define the relationships among the HOD, the Executive Committee, and the Advisory Council. Please take the time to review the details of these issues as presented in the Newsletter Insert in the April 2001 AAPG Explorer.

Jeanne Harris (303-534-0708 and gandhpc@earthlink.net) is Chair of the RMAG delegates to the HOD this year. She will be holding two meetings on May 4th and May 18th right after the RMAG luncheon meetings. We will discuss the issues that are to be considered at the June 3rd HOD Meeting. Feel free to give her a call, attend one of the meetings, or talk with any of the other delegates and alternate delegates (Tom Ahlbrandt, Danna Anderson, Ed Coalson, John Curtis, Ed Dolly, Janell Edman, Jack Edwards, Robert Groth, Jim Kreutzfeld, Susan Landon, Mark Longman, Keith Murray, Jim Mullarkey, Randy Ray, Jim Rogers, Jim Schmoker, Steve Sonnenberg, Dan Spancers, Dave Suek, and Debbie Sycamore) about these issues or other issues that you would like us to bring before the Delegates.
