New Teaching Materials in RMAG Office

Title: New Teaching Materials in RMAG Office
Publication: The Outcrop, February 2002, p. 10

Interested in speaking at a school in your area? Need some visual aids and hands-on materials? The RMAG has just added a set of seven posters describing the geologic history of the Red Rocks Dinosaur Ridge area and a set of minerals and rocks from the Colorado School of Mines Geology Museum. The poster set is a good visual aid in describing the rocks of the area and how they have been deformed over time. The rock and mineral set from CSM comes with 4 tubs of rock samples and two activity booklets all designed to satisfy Colorado science standards. While the posters are a good aid for a talk, the rock and mineral set has enough activities and hands on materials to last for several days to a couple weeks.

If you are interested in using these materials in a talk or if you know of a teacher who would benefit from using the rock and mineral kit, just call the RMAG office to reserve the materials for check out. If you are on the west side of the metro area and don’t want to make the trip downtown, the CSM Geology Museum has plenty of rock and mineral kits available. Check out the materials and have fun informing young minds.
