Rocky Mountain Natural Gas 2004: Smart Science, Sound Business, Energy Summit

Title: Rocky Mountain Natural Gas 2004: Smart Science, Sound Business, Energy Summit
Publication: The Outcrop, November 2003, p. 13

The Rocky Mountain Section AAPG and RMAG are teaming up with the Colorado Oil and Gas Association to present “Rocky Mountain Natural Gas 2004” at the Colorado Convention Center, August 9-11, 2004. This first-time combination of the two meetings will bring together a “Who’s Who” of Rocky Mountain explorers, producers, and marketers.

The proposed AAPG technical program will be organized topically and will attempt to provide cross-disciplinary collaboration with COGA. COGA will be organizing its own concurrent sessions. We welcome abstracts in the following categories:

  • New Oil and Gas Plays in the Rockies
  • Resource Assessments
  • Petroleum Systems and Geochemistry
  • Unconventional Gas Resources
  • Shale Gas Resources
  • Geophysical Techniques in the Rockies
  • Applied Reservoir Modeling in Gas Reservoirs
  • Coalbed Methane
  • Role of Fractures on Gas Resources
  • Jonah Field Case Studies
  • Rocky Mountain Structure and Stratigraphy
  • Shallow Basin Margin Gas

We are especially interested in recent multidisciplinary reservoir studies, new interpretations of structure and stratigraphy based on the application of 3D seismic and/or outcrop studies, new play concepts and prospects based on application of seismic and/or sequence stratigraphy, and new insights into the petroleum systems of Rocky Mountain basins. Topics that are not related to the above sessions are welcome and will be organized into open sessions.

Authors are invited to submit new and original work for either oral or poster sessions.

Five half-day oral sessions are planned, including all day Monday and Tuesday, and Wednesday morning. Three half-day poster sessions are planned, including Monday and Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday morning. Abstracts are limited to 250 words and may be submitted online, by e-mail, or on diskette. We encourage you to submit the abstract online at http://www.aapg.org/meetings/rms04. Once you are in the abstract submittal site, the system will guide you through the process step by step. ABSTRACTS ARE DUE BY NOVEMBER 24th, 2003.

Send your abstract in today and join us for a Rocky Mountain Natural Gas Summit.
