Title: Highlights of the April RMAG Board Meeting
Author: Ira Pasternack
Publication: The Outcrop, June 2005, p. 17
The Board received an update on the status of the RMAG Foundation from outgoing Chairperson Steve Strachan. Steve and Trustees Dudley Bolyard and John Robinson have done an outstanding job ensuring the Foundation’s long-term financial health. Steve was commended by the RMAG Board for his excellent leadership and his ten tireless years of service on the Foundation. Thank you very much, Steve: John Robinson will assume Steve’s Foundation Chair role and Matt Silverman was approved by the Board to be the new trustee.
I neglected to mention in the previous RMAG Board meeting Highlights that the Bolyard Scholarship was also generously supported by Dudley’s charming wife, Marion. My sincere apologies, Marion!
The Board also received updates on several upcoming publications. The July Mountain Geologist will be another theme issue, focused on fluvial reservoirs. The October Mountain Geologist still needs several articles, so please finish that manuscript and consider submitting it for publication. The Rocky Mountain Atlas (also known as “The Big Red Book”) DVD preparation is progressing and should be available soon. The entire Atlas will be provided in Adobe Acrobat PDF format and the maps will also be provided as geo-referenced Geotiff-format files. Page layout work on the 2005 Tight Gas Sandstones Guidebook is under way as are plans for the Fall Symposium built around the Guidebook.
Please don’t forget the Coal Bed Methane Symposium is scheduled for June 30th after the AAPG annual meeting in Calgary. All of you duffers out there please remember that the RMAG/DGS Golf Tournament will be held at the Omni Interlocken course on July 11th.
