Title: RMAG June Board of Directors Meeting
Author: Laura Mauro, Secretary

It is hard to believe that half of 2010 has gone by and we are well into the summer season. The Board of Directors met on June 23rd for our monthly meeting. It was possibly the shortest one yet with several projects and office staff updates in the works. Ron Pritchett kicked off the meeting with good news on the annual RMAG Golf Tournament that was held on Monday, June 21st. The tournament was well attended and the buzz around our office was filled with excitement and compliments to the event organizers and volunteers. The Board would like to extend a very big thank you to all of the Golf Committee members and volunteers for their time and effort putting on this great event that supports our membership and offers a wonderful networking opportunity that we can look forward to attending each year. I know we aren’t all golfers, but it sure is nice to have a variety of networking opportunities to spice up the schedule. Special thanks to Spence and Jennifer Flournoy for their dedication and over 20 years of service to the membership for their involvement with the RMAG Golf Tournament.
The RMAG Teacher of the Year Award was awarded to Sharon Milito of Patrick Henry Elementary School. Sharon is recognized for her work teaching integrated natural science to elementary school children. The award was presented at the July 2nd luncheon meeting. Sharon not only contributes to natural sciences through elementary education but she also recently published a paper in The Mountain Geologist (January 2010) entitled “A Survey of Fossils and Geology of Red Rocks Canyon Open Space, Colorado Springs, Colorado.”
It is the time of year when the RMAG Board of Directors Nominating Committee gets together to contact members to run for the 2011 Board. The Committee is making great progress and working hard on the next set of nominees!
The July BOD meeting was held on the 21st at 4:00 p.m. in the University Building. The August meeting will be held on the 18th at 4:00 p.m. in the University Building conference room on the 2nd floor.
